University College London Information/ Virtual Open days

Entry requirements:

  • New Zealand: Award of the National Certificate in Educational Achievement (NCEA) Level 3 Diploma with Excellence, to include three level-3 subjects of at least 20 credits of no lower than Merit (M). One subject to include 15 credits at Excellence (E), and the other two subjects to include 12 credits at E.

Undergraduate Open Days

Bookings for the Virtual Open Days are now open. Online events are taking place between 1 April - 30 May 2025.

These events will provide information about admissions, funding, accommodation, and student life at UCL. Academic departments will also be running subject specific sessions, providing a great way for students to learn more about course content, entry requirements and graduate destinations.

UCL will require several admissions tests administered by UAT-UK in the 2026 admissions cycle: the ESAT, the TMUA and the TARA (a new admissions test for 2026 entry). Individual prospectus entries detail which UCL courses require tests, and I will share more detailed information in a future newsletter. In the meantime, please visit the UAT-UK website for details of the ESAT, TMUA and TARA tests.

Information from NZQA about using NCEA to study in Australia

Only thecredits gained in NCEA level 3courses are considered. You must get NZ UE to apply.
Currently they use thebest 90 creditsyou have got at level 3 and calculate your average as a percentage, using the following values: 5 for each credit earned with Excellence, 3.5 for each Merit and 2.5 for each Achieved. This may change as our Level 3 is changing.
Australian universities also have high requirements in relation to yourlevel of English. I suggest you email the university or course you are interested in and ask is Level 3 English is required and how many credits.

When applying to university in Australia you need to apply through the state the university is in. This is over seen by the Australasian Conference of Tertiary Admission Centres (ACTAC) and has these five centres. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and the University of Tasmania also participate in ACTACmeetings.
