There is roadworks happening near Marsden School as part of the Karori Connections bus, bike and walking improvements. The work being done is as follows:
- Upgrading the bus stop and line marking in Marsden Village (Karori bound) starting this week, which will take four weeks to complete (weather dependent). A concrete curb extension will be made, though there will be no interruption to traffic flow during this time.
- There will be some temporary parking removal to accommodate traffic management during construction.
There will be a temporary bus stop during construction, located directly outside Karori Baptist Church on 161 Karori Rd.
- Line marking for the cycleway from Marsden Village to outside Samuel Marsden Collegiate School will be happening from this week for the next 2 – 3 weeks and will be done as night works only.
- All curbside parking near Samuel Marsden's on the Karori bound side between the raised pedestrian crossing and the beginning of the mural (approximately 100m), will be removed to accommodate road corridor width (see attached picture).
The bus stop directly outside of Karori Normal School (Karori bound) will be moved slightly southwest approximately 50 meters to be closer to the Huntleigh Retirement Village.
- The bus stops will also be made longer to accommodate the articulated buses, there won't be a net loss of parking from this change.
- Once line marking has been completed, the cycle lane separators will be installed during the day. This will happen between Raine St and Donald St in the city-bound uphill direction.
- The pedestrian island at 218 Karori Rd will be moved approximately 15 meters to 220 Karori Rd.
The bus stop build-out that was originally planned outside of 208 Karori Rd will now remain as a curbside painted bus stop.
- P15 drop-off and pickup parking will be situated across from 184 Karori Rd and outside 164 Karori Rd (see attached picture):
